DSAS Code of Ethics & Conduct
Members of the DSAS are required to adhere to the Code of Ethics & Conduct as set forth by the World Federation of Direct Selling Association. This Code concerns the relations between Direct Selling companies and Direct Sellers on the one hand, and consumers on the other hand.
The Code is aimed at achieving the satisfaction and protection of consumers, the promotion of fair competition in the framework of free enterprise, and the enhancement of the public image of Direct Selling. All members of DSAS are required to uphold this code of Ethics & Conduct.
The Code is important in maintaining the credibility and integrity of Direct Seller.
It requires a Direct Seller be accurate, truthful and complete as to the price, grade, quality, make, value, performance, currency of the model and availability (as may be appropriate in each case) in the sale of products or services offered.
Provides customers with a “cooling-off period”
A 7-Day "cooling-off period" statement, during which customers may, on reasonable commercial terms, cancel an order or contract and receive a full refund of their money.
Members that are found to be in breach of the code and guidelines will be referred to the disciplinary committee for further investigation
For a complete look at the Code of Ethics & Conduct, please view: http://www.dsas.org.sg/dsas/Html/code.htm
The Code is a measure of self-regulation by the Direct Selling industry and it is hoped that it helps to set some guidelines for consumer protectionism. It is timely that we remind all our DSAS members of this Code as the government is debating the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Bill, which will provide consumers with a legal framework to seek redress.
